147a.2: between 1592 and 1595 the islands "Falconera" and "Plana"were added just North of the frame. In central Crete, the placenames "Messarea, Cadra, Caruu, Belueder" and "Casali" were added. In the top right the islands DIONYSIA:|DES, "Cazucaci, Amarti" and "Caxio" were added. The stippling around the milescale was replaced by horizontal hatching. Hatching of coastlines was extended from about 3 to about 6 mm.
Cartographic sources: unclear. Francesco Superanti (Soranzo), a Venetian, is mentioned by Ortelius in the text of this map (Karrow p. 18, Meurer p. 94).
