49a.2: between 1589 and 1592, horizontal hachuring along the coastline was extended from 3 to 5 mm; lines on the sails of the ship first running from upper left to lower right now superimposed with new engraving running from lower left to upper right;
Cartographic sources: Carolus Clusius or Charles de l'Écluse (1526-1609) drew a manuscript map of this area for Ortelius (Meurer p. 127-129, Karrow 26/I p. 160-161). This is a reduced copy of plate 48a, where this map was half sheet size. Now, it is less than a quarter sheet.

Cartographic sources: Gilles Boileau de Bouillon (1510-1563) made a 2-sheet map of Savoye which was published by Hieronymus Cock in 1556 (Karrow 12/20, p. 85-86, Meurer p. 116). This is a reduced copy of plate 48b, which is half sheet and also features Burgundy.
