States: 125.0 seems to be an early state occurring in some 1570L editions only, showing in the sea (left bottom) the signature of the brothers Deutecom who engraved this map. I have not seen a copy of this state.
125.1 most 1570L editions and later do not show this signature any more.
125.2 between 1573 and 1574, the hachuring on the outer ring of the cartouche at 11 o'clock which used to run from upper left to lower right now runs from lower left to upper right; the name of the lake "Lago de Iseo" in lower right has been changed to "Lago de Heo".
125.3 between 1579 and 1580, the horizontal hachuring of at the sea coast and the lakes was extended from about 3 to about 6 mm.
125.4 between 1584 and 1587, the sea directly below the whale and the ship, which used to be without stippling, now has received numerous stipples or dots.
125.5 in the 1641 Spanish edition the edge of the map has new coordinates in the form of a number for every 10 degrees.

Cartographic sources: Giovanni Septala, abt. 1490- abt. 1560 (Karrow 69/1, p. 478-479, Meurer p. 237). The "Catalogus Auctorum" states that this map was published by Hieronymus Cock in Antwerp.
