Specialists in antique maps by Abraham Ortelius and the golden age of Dutch cartography
Founded by Dr. Marcel van den Broecke (1942–2020) and Dr. Deborah van den Broecke-Günzburger, Cartographica Neerlandica is now run by Deborah. We sell original antique maps, specialising in atlas maps by Abraham Ortelius (1527–1598), whose Theatrum Orbis Terrarum was the first “modern” atlas ever published.
We still have a selection of maps from this atlas and other 16th to 18th century cartography available. Browse our current stock while it lasts.
Across all editions of the Theatrum, 228 different maps were produced between 1570 and 1612 in Antwerp.
Every map in stock includes a 200-word description with dimensions, condition, provenance and high-resolution photographs.
Marcel’s carefully assembled collection is being offered for sale. Browse what remains of this remarkable inventory.
For decades we have studied and traded antique maps, with a special focus on the golden age of Dutch cartography. Our entire stock is on this website, more informative and complete than any printed catalogue could be.
